Nivea Double Effect Eye Make-up Remover | Boots, £3.59
I really like the Nivea eye make-up remover. It works really well and is effortless to remove eye make-up, even waterproof mascara. The bi phase mixes well when shaken, although it still need to be shaken more than the Clinique one in order to mix the two liquids together. The flip cap on this seems very tight which I like, I feel happy that it wouldn't spill out in my toiletry bag. This says it will remove eye make-up 'without irritating the sensitive eye area'. This one does sting my eyes a little bit and makes them feel unpleasant. If I use less on the cotton pad, it does reduce the stinging, but obviously my eye make-up doesn't come off as quickly. A saturated pad seems to cause more sensitivity. The stinging only lasts while removing my make-up and quickly diminishes within minutes.
Overall - 3.5/5
I prefer the flip lid, the two liquids combine better than the L'Oreal one, but it's lost half a point because it stings my eyes.
L'Oreal Paris Absolute Make-Up Remover Eye & Lip
This works very well to remove even waterproof mascara, although it does take a little longer than the Clinique one. I do find that with the bi-phase, it seems to separate very quickly and ends up breaking up on my cotton pad; you have to give it a really long shake and dispense it straight onto the cotton wool, otherwise I find it comes out in two parts. This is the best for the spout and for pouring as it only has a little hole and you don't end up using too much of the product.
I do find this one a little more oily and it did leave a bit of a residue in/on my eye area after using; almost like a film of oil across my eye.
Overall - 3/5
Great if on a budget, but I don't like the oily residue and oily film in my eye.
No 7 Beautiful Skin Eye Make Up Remover
The No 7 eye make-up remover is very good. Again, I like the bi-phase product and don't find it too greasy or oily on my skin. The bi-phase works well and mixes together with little effort. It works well to remove my eye makeup, but takes more rubbing and soaking that the Clinique one. The huge pouring spout does mean I end up using more than the L'Oreal one. This is also a screw on lid - I prefer the flip caps.
Overall - 3.5/5
Perfect if you don't want to splash out £17 and even better if you have a £5 No 7 voucher.
Clinique Take The Day Off Makeup Remover
This Clinique eye makeup remover has got to be my favourite eye makeup remover ever. It has the right amount of oil, it dissolves my mascara, even waterproof and you don't need to rub your eyes to remove your makeup. The bi-phase is perfect, it completely combines when you shake it and you don't need to keep repeatedly shaking it like the L'Oreal version. If I had £17 every time to buy a bottle of this, then I would. I would love this to have a pump though, as I do find you end up using loads of it. It doesn't leave any greasy residue in or on my eye area. The lid on this is very secure - it's one of those child proof lids and it's never leaked when I've taken it on weekends away.
If you have £17 to spend, this is certainly worth the extra money.
